    Default Gaming Laptop

I'm after a laptop that can be used for gaming but only want to spend £1000 max. It must have at least a 128meg Radeon X700 GPU. I've been looking at the Acer Aspire 8103. Anyone have any other suggestions?

    Cheers

my dell 9100 (now been replaced by a newer model) was only £1100 over a year ago. P4 3.2, ATI RadeOn 9800 pro 256MB. Handled everything i've thrown at it easily.

At the time, to get a similarly powered laptop (not as high in the gfx card - dell were the first to use it in laptops) would have cost £2000 !!

Definately worth checking dells newest offerings and their upgrade options - amazing for the money.

    I'll second that.

The only other laptops worth looking at IMHO (if you have the money) are Toshiba.

Just so you know, I have one of the older Acer Aspire models, using a nvidia geforce fx card, big beast which used desktop ram, and hard drives, and have been very happy with it. Run it 24/7, never a problem, and got a good warantee deal. Although, I think my next laptop purchase, I will be looking very closely at Dell, they look very good value for money as well, after recently getting a nice budget laptop from them.

I was looking at the Acer Ferrari, but its a bit more than I want to spend. If I don't stick to my 1000 pound budget I'll end up keep increasing it until I end up buying something for 2 grand. It always happens.

Cheers for all your help guys
