Default Enabling firewire on Asus A7N8X deluxe

    Hi,

Trying to hook up an old Panasonic NV-DS27 to Premier Pro.

My mobo has 2x1394 headers on the board and the sockets come as an extra panel to go in the back.

Premier can't see the camcorder at all, so I'm thinking it's a hardware problem. When I added the header cable XP showed no signs of any new hardware being added.

It's enabled in the bios(latest version)

Any ideas?? Any software to check the 1394 is working OK??

    Cheers

The cables have specific ports, on mine one is coloured blue one is black. I believe this means one is powered the other isn't. Could be worth a try.

bit obvious but have you checked the drivers are installed?

other than that have a look in the device manager to check for problems within windows (right click on the my computer icon - properties - hardware tab - device manager)

    Cheers guys..

The ports on mine are blue and white.

AFAIK powered is 6 pin 1394 and 4 pin is non-powered. I'm prob wrong though.

Cas, win says the drivers are installed and working ok, BUT there wasn't the usual hardware wizard self install nonsense that win usually does when some new kit is added, which makes me think something isn't right

MARSTG, the bios is all setup for 1394.

Anyone else have the same mobo as me??(asus a7n8x deluxe)

    Cheers

    Hi m8,

I have the same m/b as you.

If the drivers are installed all ok for the firewire port (look in device manager) then the ports should be/are working.

Have u checked the settings on the camera? I had an old device that was not recognised when i plugged it in and then had to turn the camera into "pc mode" before windows saw it.

Just an idea but worth a try

if your not sure about the drivers being installed right go in to the device manager and either remove them and then restart windows which should reinstall them or try reinstalling them cos you can always roll back the drivers

Right, still no luck with the pc.

My brother bought one of those dvd-r/vhs units which also has a dv input.

Nothing on that either, so I'm assuming for now that the camcorder is at fault here.

    Cheers
