    Default Help Desk/Service Desk Solution

    I need to get a Help Desk / Service Desk solution in place for around about 30-40 users, we are currently using a very expensive one with the usual support and maintenance costs - and we are looking at reducing over heads, this is one thing we are looking at changing currently.

    Are there any Open Source (or cost efficient) Solutions that people can recommend.

    Obviously I know, this type of software is very expensive usually and potentially needs a lot of support, which is why I am asking for peoples opinions on any experience with similar platforms - the market place looks truely flooded with this type of thing, and most of them seemingly look complete pants.

    The solution has to meet a few criteria for starters, just to keep inline with the current one.

    * Low Cost/Open Source
    * Remote Usage - i.e. Web Based ideally. No thick clients.
    * Asset Management
    * 200/2003, IIS, SQL compatible
    * Support 30 - 40 users.

    thanks for any help lads!! I been searching for hours and are no better off due to the amount of such applications out there!

    Default Re: Help Desk/Service Desk Solution

    We have been using Liberum Help Desk ( http://www.liberum.org/) since i began working here and it's completely free. It's simple, but very customisable. There are only 2 of us in the IT department here supporting about 120 users and we definately get our moneys worth out of this freebie. People actually use it as well, nobody ever calls anymore. It took weeks of shouting "Put it on the IT Helpdesk and we'll get round to it" down the phone though.
