Batman...dun nuh nuh nuh...Batman! More rumors from Gotham City. Word on the streets is Johnny Depp might be the next Joker.

This, of course, is based completely on cryptic information, given by an anonymous source.

The source says director Chris Nolan is eyeing a big star: "Let’s just say that he has a major film coming out this summer and it’s a sequel to one of his biggest hits. In fact, his performance in the first movie was nominated for an Oscar."

This could be in reference to Pirates of the Carribbean, which has a sequel coming out this summer, and for which Depp was nominated for playing the Mick Jagger-like Captain Jack Sparrow.

The source also gave hints as to whom the leading lady may be: "Let's just say that she is nominated for a SAG, a Golden Globe and is on her way to an Oscar nomination as well. She is also in fact five months pregnant and will be in tip top fighting shape once production begins to roll early next year but not before she throws a few coins in a fountain".


Rachel Weisz is the first to come to mind, since she is five months pregnant, and won a Golden Globe for The Constant Gardener on Monday.

i think depp could play a very good joker, as could brad pitt, the only prob with those 2 actors is i think theyre having a bit too much exposure lately, esp depp
