Background....
My PC has USB 2.0 and I have been using USB 2.0 devices on it for some time.
Then one day my PC sudddenly stopped reconising USB 2.0 devices "Device uknown"
Diag's....
Tried various USB 2.0 devices (from camera to hub) - all fail "Device unknown"
Tried USB 1 devices in same ports - all work fine.
Tried USB 2.0 devices on another computer - all work fine
Things attempted...
Checked for XP updates - none
Removed ALL USB related devices both physically and in device manager... including the open host controller.
Rebooted let windows re-detect everything.
Pluged USB 2.0 a device back in... still the same error (bugger!)
Conclusion...
My USB2 drivers are fubar? The only way out I know is to reinstall windows (which i don't wanna do).
Question...
Is there anyway I can refresh my USB2.0 drivers from the XP disk without doing a total re-install?
System info....
Windows XP SP2 with full udates
The USB controller is a SIS 7001
The mobo hasn't got its own drivers... all the drivers are from the XP install
