    Default Firmware 2.0-2.5 e-loader - EBOOT Loader - Partial Homebrew only

    Homebrew and Emulation on PSPs up to V2.5 a Reality Now
    Posted on Fri 27 Jan 2006, 8:21 AM

    Fanjita has finally released the Eboot loader that uses the door left in the game Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories, heres the information from the readme file:

    eLoader for GTA beta by Fanjita and Ditlew

    Includes code by:
    Groepaz
    Delyan Kalchev
    Edison Carter
    Bitmap1

    This package allows you to run some standard PSP homebrew on any version of Grand Theft Auto, and PSP firmware version v2.0, v2.01 and v2.5. It's an initial test of the loader, that doesn't support the full range of homebrew, but works well enough for an initial release.

    It does NOT run on v2.60 firmware.

    Please note also the new name for the EBOOT Loader - "eLoader".

    To install:
    ===========

    Use WinRAR to unpack the contents of this package into the root (topmost) folder on your memory stick. Note that if you have an existing GTA savegame that uses slot 5, then this will be overwritten by the eLoader savegame. You can see which slots you are using by the folder names - ULES00182SX, ULES00151SX or ULUS10041SX : X is the slot number.

    To make sure that the eLoader is not auto-started by GTA, you can copy another GTA savegame folder off your memory stick, and then back onto the memory stick now. Now you can copy your homebrew files into subfolders in the /psp/game/ folder.

    To use:
    =======

    Start up GTA as normal. When it has loaded, select "Load Game", select the eLoader savegame and confirm the load as normal. After a short delay, the eLoader menu should appear. Select the homebrew to run using the D-Pad, and the X button. You can select a CPU speed with the L + R shoulder buttons, or press START to restart your PSP.

    To return to the menu, you can usually hold the L+R shoulder buttons, then hold START for a few seconds. This doesn't work for every application. The HOME button doesn't work, this is a known problem.

    Troubleshooting:
    ================

    One common problem is that sometimes GTA has problems if it auto-loads this savegame at startup. You can avoid this by making sure that the datestamp on the new savedata folders is older than the most recent game that you saved with GTA. This should happen automatically if you use WinRAR to extract the files. If you still have problems with GTA crashing as soon as it starts, then try this:

    * Start GTA with no memory stick inserted. You should get a warning, and then start the intro movies.
    * Once the intro has finished, either play through the first mission until you can get to a game save point, or just load up an existing save (not the Tetris save).
    * Now save your position in a new save slot.

    You should then find that GTA autoloads your normal savegame, letting you select the eLoader savegame later.

    You might find that removing unused save folders helps. There are 3 versions of the folders in this package, to cover all known versions of the game. You only really need the version appropriate to your copy of the game, which is:
    ULES00182S* for German GTA
    ULUS10041S* for US GTA
    ULES00151S* for all other versions.

    Known Working Homebrew:
    =======================

    I'll keep an up-to-date list of working homebrew at http://www.fanjita.org/gta_working.html.

    For now, the (short) list that has been tested is:
    uo_Snes9x v0.02y32
    Dual Tetris
    Lunar Lander
    Ghost in the Matrix
    Nem's Hello World

    Hi

    I have got my first PSP yesterday.. Firmware 2.5.. I have Burnout Legends originally intended for 1.5 (I think?). Will it work with this app?

    Also, could you explain why games need to be in directories??

    When I copied the burnout.iso file across it's just sitting on the mem car.. No directories..

    Thanks for your help

    Newbie!

    Sorry mate no ISO booting for 2.5 systems.

    Games go in directories becuase the PSP's file system needs to be set out in such a way.

    Check out simular threads and the 'newbies guide' Sticky for more info.,

    probably not mate, not now anyway, or with the current system's of bypassing the security maybe not at all...untill something/someone new comes along.

    best bet is to ditch it and get a lower firmware version.

    You say the above loader will play GTS on 2.5... Is this true... Do you have a list of other games?

    What the diff between iso's, original, and homebrew? What does homebrew mean?

    Am gonna check the guide again too... Sorry if you get this all the time!!!

    not ALL the time but often enough

    this 2.5 loader will boot partial homebrew only, no ISO loaders.

    homebrew is just homemade games and apps, there's loads for the PSP, including small games, emulation and other stuff

    booting retail games is very different and only works on a 1.0 or 1.5 system, generally everyone who boot's retail PSP ISO's has a 1.5 system now.

    original is just a UMD game from the shop, booting it either via normal methods or via spoofers (on a 1.5 system) to make the PSP think it's a 2.0 if the game requires it. but this is a dying thing as new games MUST have 2.0 or higher in order to boot, which is currenlty uncircumnavigatable (is that a word? hehe)

    Thanks for the advice.. Very helpful.. I get the whole firmware thing now.. Except maybe the new games requiring 2.0.. Does that mean 1.5 people are screwed for 2.0 games!??

    My mate reckons that 2.5 will be cracked soon enough... He said " they said you couldn't chip a PS2 after the v5, but they do them all now"

    Who knows!? Hope iso's will work for 2.5 soon!!!

    yeah they are screwed, GTA for example needs 2.0 so to play u just have to upgrade and then downgrade when u want to play ISO's again - which sucks a little.

    Your mate is optimistic, but there's nothing wrong with that but it doesn't mean he knows anything about it either, hehe.

    In an ideal world something good will come along soon, but it's unknown except to only a few groups of people what's going on, so for now I would say get a 1.5 if you're bothered about it, as they'll only ever get rarer and more expensive.

    VeryNaughty - it sounds like your mate just said that to stop you nagging him at 1:00am to work out how to load Burnout Legends on your new PSP, after he'd finished spanking your ass on Pro Evo 5 over the net and needed to get some sleep.

    Just a guess, but that's what it sounds like...

    Needed to jack off to amateur porn probably! And I heard my mate lost the last game 1-0 anyhow... Also, heard that my mate is pretty good when it comes to being in the know with games etc..

    Apparently there's a beta ver of 2.5 around now but it's not oeprating properly and is being worked on... Hope they crack it soon!

    Im having problems

    My mate brought his psp round asking if I can put him some games on
    checked the version and its 2.01 so I thought about this and he had a GTA saved game and had the game so I have given it a go

    Starting GTA it runs the exploit which can be a pain but remove the memory card, boot the game and he can play his saved game.

    anyway when I try to load any of the HB games/apps the eboot loader screen pops up and the screen goes blank and then the PSP goes in to standby

    anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks
