I promise, its not a scam! He tried to sell it last year and it ended up costing hundreds of £££ in the Auto Trader.
The idea came from those people doing mystery envelope thingies on Ebay.
He is a firefighter for the West Mids Sevice & has even posted his mobile number on the ebay ad for people to ring & ask questions. How many Ebayer scammers would you see putting their mobile number on!!?
If we cant sell enough tickets we will Refund £8 to everyone that has bought one, just to cover our ebay & paypal costs.
We not trying to scam anyone

£8 refund if the draw isn't made?

so you sell 1400 tickets and make £2800 less expenses

Yes, because we need to sell at least 1500 tickets, and obviously if we dont even after re-listing it a few times we cant do the draw because of the value of the car!

We are not allowing any friends or family to get involved in this...cuz that would be a scam then. Sean is looking into contacting a national newspaper tomorrow to see if we can generate interest that way, and if they are interested we will get them to draw the ticket.
I know it is probably hard to beleive, but we are not all scammers out there.

Well so far we have sold 15 tickets, so if no more sell & we refund each person £8 that leaves us with £2. Out of that £2 paypal take their 54p or whateva it is & Ebay take their cut, so we are left with pence. We are not doing this as a money making scheme because it may not work, but at the end of the day we have to cover our costs else we will end up out of pocket!?

So essentially, if the 'service' that people have paid for, namely the raffle, does not take place...they don't get a full refund, even though they've received nothing?

Don't think you can do that - there are no postage costs involved. Ebay/paypal fees must be absorbed by you....after all, it is your auction.

edit-> HOS stand for Hall of Shame....which is I suspect will soon be the new location of your thread

    Shooooooo-ryuken!

Oh ok so thats what it means? Thanks for the info.
Thats what raffles are all about anyway? U are never guaranteed to get anything, its a chance you take isnt it?
People could put £2 on the national lottery and usually get nothin back in return. These odds are considerabley lower! People on Ebay add extra p&p to cover their costs. How many people on ebay actually charge the correct postage when sending something. It is no different to that!? And for the sake of £2 is it really worth worrying about?
I dont really mind where the thread ends up, I value peoples opinions. Some people think its a good idea, some dont.
    Thanks anyway :o)

your basically either trying to scam or making it harder to sell the car, and why would you want to make it hard to sell a car.
