    Just come across this app & its Freeware

    Unknown Device Identifier 4.00

    Identify unknown devices not recognized by Windows in your system especially after you reinstall your system and cannot figure out what all those yellow question mark labeled devices really are. Help you search for workable drivers on the Internet and contact hardware manufacturer or vender directly. Driver backup is optional after you have all your device drivers installed. USB 1.1/2.0 Device, IEEE 1394 Device, ISA Plug and Play Device, AGP Bus Device and PCI Device can all be identified. Driver backup is optional. English and French interfaces.

    I installed a new O/S on a laptop at work and some of the drivers were lost - I used this app, and it found the only device I couldn't identify, but since I ddn't have a connection to the net at the time, it obviously failed to download it. It does leave an icon on your desktop, which I just deleted.

    Thanks for replying.

    I think it`ll go in my inventry of useful apps.

    I`m sure I read that it isn`t perfect at getting the downloads from the web, but I guess you can`t complain too much as its free.
