    Tech Charging PSP at sea

    Hi all,

I'm going on a cruise in May and need to take my PSP to keep me company at sea. I'm a bit confused as to how I'm going to be able to charge the thing up.

From the brochure, it says the following -
"All cabins have 110v American style flat pin sockets and 220v European style round pin sockets".
"Video recorders and mobile phones require transformers in order to charge batteries".

I'm no engineer but I know that the Euro plugs have 2 round pins but I don't want to just go out and buy a plug that changes the pin layout and maybe overheat my PSP.

Do you think I need to buy an entirely different charge lead or will this pin changer suffice? I have a UK (Euro) PSP, standard, and in the manual it states "AC 100-240v, 50/60Hz".

    Any help would be grand.

just incase you don't already have an adaptor (mine came with one) you'll be able to buy a plug adaptor to enable you to charge it on the ship. (you may already have a european adaptor anyways)

The power supply can take 100-240v so no probs in charging at sea mate.

    Hi mate,

No extra adaptor included in my pack (Giga) so will have to seek out a plug convertor thingy (no other word for it comes to mind).
All it is is something that will let me plug a 3 pin into it and give me a 2 round pin output (if that make sense).

    Thanks for your advice.

Just get an adaptor to convert a 3pin plug to either US or euro connector nothing else needed.

Krackens idea is great but you will need to put a 3 pin back on to use it in the UK

I have a JAP psp and it has a US style plug I have an adaptor to plug it in to the UK mains

your alternative would be to find a figure 8 cable with either US or euro plug on it and use that and leave your uk plug at home I cant find them on maplin.co.uk

The other half has found a 3 to 2 round pin adaptor so I guess this will work.
My concern was with chucking too much voltage into the PSP when charging (or too little) but if the manual says it will accept 100-240v then hopefully everything will be fine. Thought I'd have needed a step down / up transformer or something.

the voltage/current in to the PSP wont change, the charger converts the input either 110 or 230 to what ever the PSP needs.
