i think the z1 is great i loved it easy to use great feel in your hands when your taking pics
but just wont bit more op zoom ,more mp,
just think its time to move up but not to fast i was thinging about an SLR but bit to much for me i am not that good
Looking at the Z1's specs the optical zoom is pretty good even by today’s standards at 10x, most of the current super zooms only go to 12x, so you're not going to gain a huge amount.
The resolution, at 3.2MP looks a bit low compared to today’s 6 or 8 MP cameras but it should still produce decent 8 x 10's and with a bit of interpolation even A3. I've printed A3+ with a 3.2MP camera. Don't get caught up in the sales hype that you must have as many MP's as possible or you're pictures will be crap.
The Z1 seems a very good camera and offers a lot of control so if I were you I'd be inclined to stick with it and try to improve my technique whilst saving to make the jump to a DSLR, rather than spend money on an intermediary stop gap. You could go out and buy a Canon 1Ds MKII tomorrow, but you'll still be taking the same pics as you did with the Z1, they'll just be much larger and have cost you a fortune.
thanks for the advice m8 as i have read what you have writen i may just stick to my z1
Thanks again for the info
if i go for a DSLR what would say was good
It will depend on how much you want to spend.
Any of the currently available DSLRs are very good. The most popular choices are generally Canon or Nikon, possibly because they have the widest choice of lenses available, so you might want to look at the Canon 350D or Nikon D50. Olympus have some good deals as well and with Minolta discontinuing the production of their cameras you might be able to pick one up cheaply.
If it's going to be a while before you consider buying one it's probably better to review the market when you're ready, as no doubt there'll be newer cameras coming along that replace the current crop.
