That second goal was fooking brilliant. Am so surprised Barca managed to put together some of those moves on that surface. Even at 1-1 I couldn't see Chelsea getting through the tie...what did everyone think to the game? Thoughts?

Chelsea may be the strongest side in the UK but compared to Arsenal and Man Utd in full flow their football is nowhere near as good (imo)

Wasnt a sending off, but these things happen, god no's how long its been since a ref hasnt agreed with all the fouls etc to turn against them.
Pitch was an embarassment.
Unlucky terry son!!!
Also, how much of an annoying tosser was Andy Gray tonight?? pissed me rite off.

Great fucking game. Hats off to Chelsea for that second half ten man performance but Barca came to play football, you have to fucking admire that nowadays. Rijkard copuld have tried to contest the midfield physically by playing a 4-4-2 with Van Bommel but chose to try and win the game in much the same way as they've destroyed the majority of Primera teams this season; with attractive, free-flowing football.
That pitch was a fucking disgrace. Pryor to seeing that I was relatively indifferent to the result but as soon as I saw the state of that pitch that had cynically been of Chelsea's design to stifle attacking football I wanted the spaniards to batter them. And they did. Make no mistake, Barca would have won that game had Del Horno been sent off or not.
Having seen the two current south american wunderkind playing on consecutive nights this week I know which one I'd have in my team, Messi looks fucking fantastic.
Just got in from the Bridge. Felt we did well before and after the sending off. Didn't actually see it as it was down the other end and in the corner but heard it was a bit harsh of the ref. We looked tired after about an hour. Same happened last time round with Drogba getting sent off for nowt in the first leg so hopefully.....

"The Chosen One"...your havin' a laugh !
barcelona are currently the best team in the world.
del horno, should have had a red, but not like that .. should have been 2 yellows, the ref was compensating for the first challenge that was missed, which was far worse. the second foul was no intention for the ball. deserved.
but you have got to take you hats off for the second half barca display.. amazing.
Did well but still looked second best. Lampard was as anonymous as I'd ever seen him.Originally Posted by Chippa

for the foul he sent him off for.. yes.. it was harsh.. but i have a feeling he wish he had gave a yellow for the first. the way del horno was tackling, he would have gone soon or later.... he was losing the plot with his challenges.Originally Posted by Chippa
Deservered a red card, he never went for the ball. That Messi looks a brilliant player. Pitch is an embarasment to English Football. That sheep field plastered all over tv's round the world must make people wonder why Chelsea don't spend any cash on that rather than players. All in all no excuse. Looking forward to the next leg on a decent pitch
The rolling round on the floor was terrible. Barca are always going to be a threat attacking, Messi and Ronaldino are two of the best in the world.
I thought Chelski can be quite proud of the performance, but I was not updet to see them lose. Especially as 'The Special One' was so undignified in defea. All he could do was talk about the coverage that Essien got from Sky Sports (when he nearly broke Did's leg).

That pitch looked like a crappy sunday clubs pitch.. All that cash and cant sort out the pitch... Disgusting, Chelsea havent got a hope in ell of going into Nou Camp and beating Barca.. Not a Chance!
I was utterly appalled with the ref's decision to send off Del Horno. Also Puyol should have got a second yellow and been sent off. Again the ref makes me very sceptical of the match - Jose pleaded to the ref prior to the game to make sure that the challenges were watched very carefull: and they weren't. Hats off to Barce though they were all over us. The Eto'o goal was amazing and Terry got unlucky. Next leg should be interesting - but I think we could be in for an embarrassment
Much has been made of the state of the pitch yet both teams seemed to have no problem playing on it. The tackle by Puyol on Crespo was a real clatterer right through the back of him.
Barca are a great team and I would have settled for a draw last night. It's bad enough playing them 11 v 11. Roll on the second leg. At the end of the day if you're gonna get beat at least it's by the best team around. As I said before it was 2-1 to Barca in the first leg last time, with the dodgy Scandinavian ref dubiously sending off one of our players. So hopefully we can do them 4-2 again in the return....well I live in hope! LOL
