Policeman on racial abuse charge

A policeman has appeared in court charged with shouting racial and sectarian abuse at a Rangers match. Greg Louden, who serves with Fife Constabulary, allegedly carried out the offences during the Champions League tie against Villarreal on 22 February.
The 27-year-old has denied committing a racially aggravated breach of the peace and causing another breach by shouting sectarian abuse at Ibrox Stadium.
Louden, from Dunfermline, will appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court later in 2006.
The policeman was charged with committing a racially aggravated breach of the peace by intending to cause alarm to a player or players from Villarreal.
He is alleged to have committed another breach by swearing, making lewd gestures, shouting sectarian abuse and inciting others to do the same.

If one of the opposing teams fans comes on here and points out how the other teams set of fans has done this and that, does it really make you any better off?

I think the point the article highlights is there is a higher incidence of racist/ sectarian shouts and chants occuring at Ibrox than anywhere else,to the extent that most of the fans and Rangers supporting media dont recognise it for what it is.I think the recent comparison between the situation with E`To in Spain and the treatment of Lennon,Keane & McGeady is exactly the same "racism" without the colour

I totally agree m8,but we're very quick to "tut-tut" at others when individuals in our own football are subjected to abuse,because of their background.
The players mentioned,are not only boo-ed by their arch rivals.
Its a copycat poison that spreads throughout Scottish football,although many dont know why there doing it.
Tell me why Neil Lennon & Aiden McGeady are pilloried at EVERY SPL stadium they play at ?

What do you call it then when certain players are booed,e.g Keane,Lennon,McGeady at Ibrox and other grounds throughout Scotland,You may try to make the point about their style of play but this surely is not the case with McGeady who most people would describe as inoffensive.This issue is not restricted to these guys, particularly at Ibrox, other players such as Robbie Keane John O`Shea have also had this type of treatment the one common denominator i recognise throughout is that they are Irish!! tell me otherwise i am open to discussion

The response to the three players mentioned is not restricted to Ibrox although there is no doubt that it is clearer there than the other grounds, but the same problem occurs at most of the away grounds with only a few exceptions
