hi all what is the best year and make of subaru i can buy for 5g as my old golf gti has packed up and im after something a bit better, any help would be appreciated

go for a standard car with no mods as unless done correctly its easy to get big power but knacker these engines

yeah, they tend to fall apart quite quickly when they've been tinkered with. Standard is better unless you want to be looking again a few months down the line.

The WRX STI is the best model but for 5k you'd be lucky to get one that isn't about to be put on a scrap head.

But to be honest getting a scooby for 5k IMO is asking for trouble. You'd be better off getting something thats not depreciated as much.

Get in touch with an importers see if they can help,

My friend has a 2.0 T STI, he went straight to importers told him he wanted an STI for £X amount, and they can source one for you.

Suburu's are not worth it IMO

Yes its a fast as fuck car, but the insurance on one ( high profile car ) Running costs, as the fact you'll be lucky to hit 150miles off a tank. ( my friends does 138max to a tank of juice....

service costs can be high if you use dealers, fuel? depends how you drive it i,ve got a w plate uk version getting between 28 on a good run to about 15 when you give it the beans. imports are more powerful but you need to use higher octane fuel which is more expensive (not every garage keeps it),they are more expensive to buy and parts can be harder to get. try http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/ for all you need to know plus there are always well looked after cars for sale.

subaru is a lot smoother ride than an evo, evo suspension is to hard get ass ache on long journeys

P1 is nice, tbh could prob pick 1 up for 10k I prefer the 3 door scoobys as who wants 5 doors, makes me sick. My dad got a new Audi A3 which is nice but its got 5 fucking doors, looks like a barge.

I've had three of them, TBH in my opinion 5k is not enough to get a reliable subaru impreza, also take into account that a 28 yr old with 3 yrs NCB pays £1100 fully comp on a standard 2l wrx..... Group 20... If your under 24 I doubt you'd get insurance for much under 2.5K
