    Question Keyfob

Hi, can some one give me some advice please,,,

I have a Toyota RAV4, and the problem is that the key fob will work from across the road on a good day but it won't work all the time. ;(

Some times I have to keep pushing the little button on the fob for about 10 minutes before it will work, this is annoying when it is first thing in the morning and I need to be getting on my way to work.

I have replaced the battery in both key fobs, yes I have 2 and they both do the same thing.

When it is working I can disarm the car and reset the car from across the road straight away and it will work for 5 to 6 goes, then nothing, it won't work again for anything upto 10 minutes.

Please give me some reason why this should happen, and were is the receiver for the alarm?

    thank you for any advice.

don't know the definitive answer, but it's a common ploblem.
I wasn't going to post because the answer sounds like a load of crap, Toyota havn't been able to trace the problem but a few owners have put it down to wireless routers which affect the keyfob signal.
you'll need to ask yourself if it only fails when parked at home.

now i'll take cover and wait for the flaming

p.s. some folks recon phone masts effect them too

My lass has a Rav4 and suffers exactly the same problem.

    However, all is not lost.

This might sound stoopid and daft, but it works. For her anyway.

Hold the fob against your right temple when you press the button. Your head acts like a huge antennae and spreads the signal.

Ok so you'll look a right twat but it does the job

    Try it and see.

Thanks for suggestion, I did try holding the key fob to my temple and it didn't work but I did get some silly looks.

So I am not alone, we all have this problem, it happens anywere and everywere, not limited to being in a built up area, it does it when parked at the fishing lake in the middle of nothing for miles.

Keep suggestions coming though, and where is the scensor located in the car?

    thank you

You need to try the advanced fobbing off method.

Hold the fob to your right temple, but also lift your right knee up slightly while holding out your left arm. Throw in a couple of hops for good measure. Sorted

That worked well, must be the bent knee thing, steel toe capped boots stopped the signal but the knee worked. Sorted
