Help GRID.org - donate your PC's idle time to help find a cure for cancer

"Volunteer your PC, dont just make a donation, make a difference"

Most of you will have heard of Seti@home - a program that will use your PC's idle time to search for ET. This program is slightly more useful (I hope!), using your PC's idle time on one of two projects...

Helping to find a cure for cancer - http://www.grid.org/projects/cancer/

Or unfolding the Human Genome - http://www.grid.org/projects/hpf/

Its a tiny program that runs in the background whilst your PC is on, and when the processor isnt busy serving you, it'll churn away information on behalf of the worlds scientists - your work does get top priority, it doesnt slow your computer down, it just uses whats spare whilst your PC is on.

I've been a member for years, since CDRom-guide had a team, then as part of the team for Modshack.

Would really appreciate people signing up for this, and I have set up a Digital-forums.com team to show the world what we can do!

    Thanks

And on another note, it does give a very fetching screen saver!

Hmmmm....very wary of programs that "run in the background", and this one seems to max out the processor even if I am doing something else on my PC, ie, not idle

ive had this on a couple of my pcs for a while now got over 96k points stuck it on a few work machines as well if its getting too intrusive just go into preferances and set it to only run as a screensaver,
