Just after a bit of advice really, I have a gold Golf sitting on 18's at the mo and the wheels are going in next week for a refurb as there are "1 or 2" curb marks on them........I was speaking to my mate about them (cyprus) and he suggested making them black??? And painting the calipers gold to match the car? Do u think this will look a bit wanky, any ideas what will be the best finish on them?

Also the car is gettin the front and back valances sprayed to match the rest of the car also .....

Keep the wheels their original colour, it's a lovely looking motor without trying to tart it up too much.

Agree with Roach here. Car looks alright considering it is gold Looking for a golf at the moment myself for the Mrs but Autotrader is flooded with GTIs and VR6s for the 3k or less bracket.

No they look good as they are. IMO black rims only suit certain cars and a gold golf is not one of them

Black wheels look awful if not kept clean, plus makes tyres look shit unless they are jet black too.

Get em re firb'd and keep em clean, paint calipers same colour as ur car to get rid of the rusted effect, and drop is so the rims sit nice in the arches

Think I am just gonna get them reburbed back to the way they were, also I have also had the car lowered 30mm so sit nicely on the rims at the mo'......not good for my ball joints though

My first motor when I was 17, was a 1.0l Mini metro on an X plate. It was so basic the seats didn't even recline! but I spent half my life down the breakers and changed the car completely. I put a new interior in it, MG steering wheel and handbrake cover(!) boot spoiler etc. I got hold of a set of MG Metro wheels for it and they were too big for the suspension so they would rub on the inside of the arches when I went round bends and make the most almighty groaning noise.....bit embarassing really.

18" is a pretty big wheel on a Golf!

Yeah they are pretty big but they only rub if I have a car full of people, bitch of a price for new tyres
