Default Minor hack news (I SAID MINOR NEWS !!!!!)

    nothing really.......

but might bring a smile to all you owners of Samsung drives....
todate its all been Hitachi hack this and Hitachi hack that....
but a major problem has been the inability to flash the dvd leaving the bios chip in situ......

some blokey has now managed to sucessfully backup and restore the samsungs firmware without the need to break open the dvd unit at all.
a big plus for us non tekkies..... as desoildering bios chips is not for the faint of heart.

so it seams the race to provide a nice software tool to copy/modify/write to the dvd drive is being won by the samsung brigade.

ofcourse we are still waiting for someone to publicaly release the fireware for either drive.

    Project Progress

    Project Progress
    1) Build adapter - 90%
    2) Test adapter
    3) Finalize design with parts list available and posted
    4) Boot drive and detect in windows
    5) Read firmware and dump using Windows XP
    6) Write firmware using Windows XP
(the tools used to dump/read/write the firmware will most likely be that of Kev.Ru due to the plain fact that it works, why reinvent the wheel? If there is inprovment to be made, then ill attempt to take those steps if its needed.)
    Optional Progress
    - Search firmware for Xbox serial number (who knows)
    - Make chip to toggle between firmwares so you dont brick your drive lol
    - Maybe firmware programmer so you can access it via LPT
I may or may not decide to go into these, depends on how this project works out and how many people even find this useful in any way at all. I am no god of hacking by any means nor am I stating that i even compare to TheSpecialist or Kev.Ru… So please no flaming, this is a learning experience, just like x360tool, and 360sata.
