Xbox Live Going Offline Tomorrow for Maintenance (May 2nd)

Larry Hryb, the Xbox Live Director of Programming, has announced that Xbox Live, Xbox.com and the forums will be offline on Tuesday May 2th from 0200-1500 PT for maintenance.

Rumor has it that the reason why Microsoft is performing this maintenance just a week before E3 is because new features could debut during the expo.

Xbox Live 3.0 Tomorrow?

We saw this report over at WhoDigs stating that Xbox Live will be getting an update during the scheduled downtime tomorrow. Well, our sources at Microsoft are confirming that the rumors are true, background downloading will be one of the new features added to Xbox Live as well as numerous fixes / updates. So there you have it.

You have the entire day to work on your offline games, or even venture outside into the daylight if you so desire.

Oh, and this is for maintenance only not a dashboard upgrade as many people think.

I'm hoping Street Fighter 2 will be along soon

Reading a bit more it looks like this is the enabler for the next auto update so hopefully we'll get the background downloading with that one!!
