    Default 16 Blocks

    Plot:
    Spoiler:
Bruce Willis plays an ageing, alcoholic cop who needs to escort a witness 16 blocks to the courthouse for a trial. Unfortunately for him, the process isn't as simple as that, as people want the witness dead. He is to testify in a case against a number of crooked police officers, all of whom are understandably unwilling to let this happen- let the action begin

Comments: After what is a slow start the action begins to pick up and ultimately this is a very good film. Although not as action packed as earlier works starring Bruce Willis it nonetheless has its share of action. I wouldn't recommend going to see this with a partner though as it doesn't really have anything in it for women. Also, although we have seen Wills as an older action hero in Sin City, here he really has slowed down (but can, and does, still do the business). An interesting story punctuated with som good action sequences with an overriding theme of redemption.

Rating: Slower than you may expect but still very good 7/10

It's a good solid action/thriller. Willis is good. He's better when he's being understated like this and Mos Def is turning out to be a quality actor. He was great when I saw him last year in the Woodsman as well. A return to form for Richard Donner who's not mad emuch of note since Lethal Weapon 2 in my opinion.

Gives you a good feel of a bustling Manhattan as well while they're being chased across the 16 blocks. Quality movie. 7.5/10

It had bruce willis in so i was gonna watch it anyway but i just felt the film was a bit to slow, im not saying its a bad movie cause it aint but i did feel id wasted money and should have waited, it didnt help that Mos Defs voice was doing my head in !

i liked it but it coulda been better...

seemed like bruce in his good old acting style, but it felt like something was missing.. like a white bloodied vest, lots of guns and him running around shouting yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker.

    roll on die hardest.

Just seen this. OK movie, I also thought Willis was good, seems he is getting better as he ages.

The witness, hmm...mixed feelings there, as the voice was extremely annoying, but the character was very sympathetic.

An OK action movie, where you don't have to think so much.

Thought I would bump this thread because the film is just out on DVD. I dissagree the previous comment about this film not being for women. I must confess that I was expecting another Die hard type film but it isn't at all!
In fact I think the action wasn't all that much and really a sideline to the story of a cop who has totally wasted his life and is forced into a situation that ultimately gives him the oppotunity to make amends.
Those who are expecting an action film will be dissappointed. Blockbuster describe it as a "thriller" and I agree that is the best catagory to stick it in!

    I'll give it a 7/10
