Default removing a remote TightVNC password?

I need to remove a password I set on a remote machine which uses TightVNC, is this at all possible?

you can't open the settings via the viewer sadly, so this seems like it's not the answer.

i'm a bit stuck without knowing as it's 'remote'

urr, before u think, i'm not hacking! thanks,

Access the machine using a web browser as opposed the VNC viewer mate.

To do this, enter http://IPADDRESS:5800 in to the browser address bar (replace IPADDRESS with the actual IP addy, and don't forget to stick :5800 on the end as this is the standard VNC port)
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

OK then, next step is a bit of registry editing.

You need to remove the registry setting located under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORL\WinVNC3\Default]

Find the key called "Password"=hex:**,**,**,**,**,**,**,**,** and delete the hex code.

Also check under [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ORL\WinVNC3\Default] and if you find the same key, then do the same.

Needless to say you will require admin rights to the PC.
Once the PC has been rebooted, VNC will ask you to type in a new password.

Weird, i conected to VNC an a remote machine tonight, right clicked the icon in the task bar and went to properties, changed the password, disconnected, reconnected (with new password), and could get back on. Maybe it depends what version you are using, who knows!

You could also remotely install it back over the top with a new password - there's a few different admin tools available for doing this, I've got the links stored on my work machine, if you need them I'll post them tomorrow.
