    Hi mate,

I used to offer CV writing services as part of a small sized IT business I used to be part owner in. You should have a seperate CV for each position applied for. Skills are transferable from ANY job / background, you just gotta highlight the correct ones, relevant to the role being applied for.

Straight to the point is a must also, no one wants to read a huge list of qualifications and experiences etc at the top (or 1st page!) of a CV, they want to see what you're skills are and what kind of role you are seeking and if your personality fits that role. Then if interested, they'll read further and THEN find out about your qualifications etc.

If you were a manager and faced with a pile of 100 CV's (more in some jobs) you gotta filter them somehow right? how would you do it? Me, I'd filter them aesthetically first, then flick through what I got left...........

Man, I can talk about this subject for ages, PM me and we'll get summat sorted if you want me to re-jig what you got already if you like? no probs.....

i would not mind some help beefing up my CV as I will be applying for loads of jobs shortly and would not mind a half decent CV to send off.

I am dyslexic so I struggle with this kind of thing got to type up my replies in word to sort out all my errors before I even post on here lol

Being in recruitment i feel i can comment on this as well.

It really depends what kind of role your applying for.

Sales would be completely different to IT that would be completely different to HR that would be completely different to industrial.

If you wanna give more details on the area the jobs in then i'm sure between us all we can create an awesom CV for you.

one bit of advise i can offer, only from my experience, when i was looking at taking on someone, i was most impressed with the persons content that applied to the job we had on offer.

Fancy fonts etc etc doenst matter, just need to show you can do what the employer wants.

as i said, this is really only based on my experience in recruiting.

I shifted through about 25 CV's, and only put 4 on the "like" pile.

You've really recruited people? Did you place the ads yourself?

"one bit of advise" did you mean advice?

"the persons content" did you mean person's

"Fancy fonts etc etc doenst matter" did you mean doesn't

"I shifted through about 25 CV's" did you mean sifted

I normally change mine depending on the job I am applying for, look at what they want and try and arrange my CV to highlight the experience I have to match that. So they don't have to spend lots of time reading it.

good luck mate hope you find a good job

(doH! not looking where I am typing)
