    Default New company site..

    http://www.geteffective.co.uk/newsite/

been working on this for a couple of weeks now and almost ready to go live. (Should be monday). Thinks it's come out pretty well. Still need to slot in some of the content.

If anyone wants to have a look i'd like to know if they spot any bugs or weird things happening.
    Much appreciated.

    Requires flash 8.

i like the concept...not really sure how it fits tbh but i like it.. all the text is about ecommerce, web/print design, new media, branding etc... wtf does radio have to do with anything.. or tuning in... or perhaps im missing something.

what i dont like is floating shit behind text.. makes things incredibly difficult to read.. my eyes keep focusing on the movement behind the blurb.

oh and the noise gets really fucking annoying if you dont realise the only way to shut it up is to tune it in precisely or click the quick nav... bit difficult to tune it in exactly.. well not really, but too much so for a method of navigation imo.

also, you might want a "skip intro" button so folk dont have to turn the bloody dials every time..

First of all, why have something that totally depends on flash? Thats just wrong and denotes a niche of audience.

For 1 I have flash installed and it doesn't work under firefox 1.5 using Solaris 10. I also tried using mozilla 1.7 on solaris 10 with flash installed and still the same. I just get an ugly green blob in the middle of the screen.

So first impressions would be get a site that doesn't depend on flash.

    Just my two cents

you got talent. i can clearly see that. but unfortuately there is way to much fucking about for my liking. i cant be bother with it. i'm going to click on the next google result.

your site will appeal to some but not the many. maybe have a html site woth the option of flash.

Using FF 1.5.0.3 here and it doesn't work.

Personally I hate flash unless it's done really well. Flash is difficult to get right and I only really like it done for promotional websites, for advertising the latest model of a car for instance or something similar. An entire website is usually a bad idea.

But seeing as I can't get in I'll never know what you do, or how effective it is.

one other thing i just noticed when trying it in firefox (minefield 3.0a1 alpha) (worked btw, prolly more to do with flash version than FF) is that when viewing your site my cpu usage sits at 100%.

    not. fucking. cool.

My first point is that it took me quite a while to actualy figure out what i am suppose to do, and what the site is about... geeze, i still dont know. :S

Also it is dipendent on flash, and i cant view the site without enabling javascript. Therefor it is dipendent on these two main things which cuts your traffic by about 37%. (may be a tad to high).

Also, as i am on the topic of traffic how does a googlebot or any bod going to spider a page with just flash, its isnt a readable format; plaintext pwnes. Perhaps you could make a html based version which can be selected on a splash page.

Cheers for all the feedback guys.

Pretty much all "finished", although im sure i'll have to make updates now and again.

Their should be allot less CPU rapage now i think. I'm getting a decent FPS in all browsers over here. (you can see the FPS in the bottom right hand side of the radio)

As I said the site requires flash 8, i'll be adding a dectection script to the site soon but if you dont have flash 8 (god knows why you wouldnt), you can get it here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/downl...ShockwaveFlash

regarding any comments about the whys and wheres of navigation system, etc, it was my brief to create a radio for navigation of the site so that's what I did. Have made a few tweaks now though so should be easier to use.. there's also a help tab now if it's all too much.

    enjoy...

On the first page that loads after clicking 'enter site' is the word Web Design meant to sit right at the top of the page? It seems to be disappearing from view.
