Consoles aside...

I've just managed to watch the entire Metal Gear 4 video for the e3 show.

How amazing is that, not just graphically (in game graphics, cough cough) but the story too, some of the old characters are back, and Raidan as the new Ninja.... He is looking mean!

Can't wait for this game, more than anything else.

well said man , fk the consoles , its the games we want.
kojima is reason enough for me to get a bloody ps3.
the guy is a genius, i know some people hate the fmv and all that but i play games on all platforms and mgs3 was amazing, amazing. halo 2 bored the shit out of me after a few hrs, whereas that got better and better .
and the grfx were far nicer that anything on the xbox, artistically at least.
apart from maybe riddick.

metal gear is the reason i have faith in sony too, well not the sole reason in sony, but my faith in japanese developers. we can all woop and get excitied about halo 3, (like wow, what a surprise that announcement was) but games like MGS have so much more depth and meaning than the trash that america churns out, so it has 10 trillion FSAA polygons or whatever, who gives a flying fuck if the game is just yet another run around n shoot shit title and telling me i can go on live and spend yet more money on buying major cheif a different coloured headband doesnt add much to it either.

its not just story, its about the connection you feel with characters, when i finished MGS2, i felt like i just watched a fantastic movie, that id watched the rise and fall of some fantastic characters and that id been involved with a great story, mgs2 managed to make you hate an evil character, but at the same time, feel compasion for that same character as you knew why they were evil, the same with the classic MGS1 for the ps1.

give me 1 katamari to your 20 fps shooter, halo, gears of war or whatever, its all so old and so tired for me. yeah i watched the GOW movie that MS harp on about and yes its impressive technically, but at the end of the day, its some guy running round shooting bad guys, the plot or the gameplay is nothing new and i couldnt really care less for the title.
Mgs4 is supposedly the final outing for snake, and thats becasue the creators of the game feel it cant go any further, not because they cant make any more money from it.

There is a great story with halo, hence the books that have been released and the forecoming movie. Halo 2 is still the most played game on live and will be until halo 3 comes out. mgs is more of an interactive movie than a game. Personally I disliked the series due to the heavy amount of cutscenes which are completely void of gameplay.
