    Default ISP suggestions please

    Hi all,

I am having a issue with my sly plus box on a bulldog line resulting in the box not being able to dial out. Bullsh!te are saying that its incompatible with sky active and or sky on their system.

I dont know how much of that is true or not. In essance I now have to think about moving phone provider and ISP so the question is what do you recommend and what costs are likely to be.

I am a medium downloader so probably would not want any caps on the line if you get my drift

There is no cable in my area of glasgow so I cant go down nthell route even if I wanted.

    Thanks in advance

As for the dial out problem, do you have to dial a number before you dial the normal number itself?

If yes, this is where the problem is, your Sly+ box need to be told that it has to dial the number in front of it's normal number...

Or is this a filter problem, filters suppplied by Bulldog too?

    Just food for thought...

I myself can't imagine why your Sly+ wouldn't been able to dial out, if you can use the line for normal phone conversation too?
    Greetings :)

sky boxes don't work on bulldog lines something to do with how they handle the calls over their ip network.

Some people have had success using voip to make the connection if you really want to get it working, but you shouldn't need the box connected to the line anyway if you can live without sbo (can be ordered over the phone) or paying for the interactive services (my games are not on c4 anymore so there's no point in using them . You do need it for multiroom.

Hi thanks for the above suggestions, I have multi room so its part of slys terms. I did not know abou the voip thing though. Sounds like a lot of work involved in it.

Its looking more and more like my costs for internet is going to go up. Zen speeds look good but expensive, aceinternet not too sure on them.

I am thinking its back to BT unless this voip is easy to do and a more expensive isp Unless anyone has got any ideas?

Thanks again for everyones help much appreciated.
