    Yes m8

I think ive had something similar. They win the auction, then send you false emails from paypal saying please post phone to Nigeria once you have given them the royal mail tracking number paypal releases funds. Hence they get the phone and don’t send any money.

I sold mine on there and got theses types of emails. Straight away I realised and left him negative feedback with in minutes he received another 4 and was removed from eBay around 10 minuets l8r.

    Hope it helps

wouldn't you usually wait for payment to clear before sending anything out though?

Chances are it will be a scam.

Need some more details to tell you exactly what one.

It could be that they'll send a cheque for more than the value of the phone and ask for the the phone and the difference in the money to be sent to them. The cheque will then bounce leaving the seller without the phone and having lost money (foreign cheques can bounce as long as a month after they are paid in)

hard about some sorta check scam, but I never reolised sellers had an obligation to send goods before cheques cleared and monies could be transferred to avoid scams. Is this the case?

They're not, but since money will show in your account about 3 days after paying it in most people think that the money has then cleared and do not expect it to bounce 2 or 3 weeks later.

Paypal can similarly reverse a payment after it's shown up in your account, even after you've withdrawn it, leaving you with a negative balance.

yes that it completly true Mule, i had the exact same problem from them, they send you a message pretending to be from 'Paypal' but it is not really paypal because the way they construct the email you can tell because of the bad english. I would steer well clear if you ever get into this kind of situation. thanks

Dont send them nothing even if they pay you. The usual scam is from a phished paypal account or somthing.
