Default Windows can't see the drive? Try this

    Ok,

    Silicon Sata 3112 controller.

    Intel ICHR5 Controller

Tried both, even the bios saw the one on the Intel board but no matter what Windows kept crashing and the SLAX CD didn't want to stick it in Mode B

My solution? USE THE POXY CROSSED WIRE METHOD

Works straight away, I didn't need to download a 200mb disc either.

At least it did on the Intel, never bothered to check with the Silicon 3112 one, depends if I end up doing another one or not.

I know there are some haters out there of the Silicon one but I've actually heard a couple say it works..onboard anyway, so rule out the Mode B problem first. At least you know for SURE with the crossed wire method, the 360 light flashes rapidly.

Lets face it most don't have a fcuking clue what we are doing, me included.

did the same thing, coulnt get the slax way to work, wire trick took seconds to do and was much easier.
just be careful with the wire trick method.

By not using the connectivity kit and plugging direct to your sata port on your mobo? That's what I did, might not be relevant to you though mate and using the two wire method.

i didnt pay over 20 quid to fu(k around like that.

somehow it seems to have worked now.

At least I think it has .

Any way of seeing or checking what firmware is on the drive to confirm its worked ?

Well I don't have any games working at the moment lol.

Use clone CD (Burns to DVD)
Haven't used DVD decrypter yet, Stay away from the Devil360 version of GRAW (That didn't boot for me), just trying Moto GP now...probably won't work either.

We need to find out what rip works as a benchmark for the drives, otherwise we could be going wrong anywhere, be it the flash, the media or the burning of the data.

    which burner are you using?
as any backup tested with my 2 nec burners fail, i get unrecognised disc, but burning with my pioneers are fine.
the devil360 rips are fine i can vouch for them.

Cool, that's great that you say that mate, I can rule bad rips out.
I'm using and LG GSA-4167B Drive, used Verbatim and Datawrite titaniums.

No avail so far...and the LG drive has bitstepping for what it's worth.

    The mind boggles honestly
