Question Advice on a PHOTO printer please

I already have an Epson CX6400 and yes it's an all in one with plenty of features but I find the photos it prints appalling. It gives too heavy ink coverage resulting in a streaking or blotting effect. I have wasted quite alot of photo paper in the process and it's starting to get on my nerves now.

I don't want to get rid of it but would like to purchase a printer specifically for it's photo printing qualities. Any recommendations or one's to avoid like the plague?

In my opinion you can't beat getting them professionaly printed. I generally take mine to Jessops, last time I paid under a tenner for 50 prints on a one hour servce...

Well I've been contemplating that too. We were bought an album for an engagement present (18 months ago..now married) and I was going to select enough photos to fill it, put them onto disc and take them to be printed at the right size, at somewhere like Jessops.

However, we have also bought on disc, all the photographs our photographer took at the wedding (over 1200 shots) as we have only got 200 in the official wedding album. It would be nice to print of some of these at home without incurring too much more costs as we paid £500 for the discs.

Have said it once and I'll say it again. 'Dance whille the record spins'

I always say this and I will say it again. Use www.photobox.co.uk for all your prints. Cheap as and the service is second to none. If you want a referral I can send one to your email if you like mate and it will get you 30 free prints if I remember rightly.

Sounds "real good, real gooo-ood" matey. Do you not think it's worth getting the photo printer then?

It is nice being able to do the odd one at home but i find you spend more time fiddling to get decent results and toner is never cheap. These lot usually deliver in a couple of days and I have recetly had poster sized prints off them for a fiver or so. The offers they send out rock!! Their site is not firefox friendly though.

Yep i'll big them up to. Tried loads of "photo quality printers" fuck that, send them away and they send you back great pictures.

If not use boots, I took my CF card in with 175 piccys from my holiday, and got them all printed (next day) for £12. You can just give your card in at the desk or mess about with the booth thing and do it your self, different size's and all that.
