I regret buying the Olympus slightly thinking I should have bought the EOS 300D or what ever it was it had just been released I think a month or so before. but the olympus has been a really great camera and I have learnt alot with it.

I bagged a canon ixus i5 and for a cheap point and shoot it's pretty decent.

5mp, macro lense, takes SD and the battery seems to for a good couple of hours on continual use (plus its charger is external).

    (mines blue)

I got it from biggy's/ebuyer on their special £99 price offering.

    My Kit:

    Canon IXUS i5
    Bodyglove case
    Crucial 1GB SD

./ more to come when I get some more beans and some experience with using a 'proper' camera. Essentiually I brought this to practice and learn with. Once I've got the basics of photography and photoshop down I will be looking for a cheap dslr. I think i'm about a year or two away from that though. I want to learn what it all means first
    I'm new to this

Got my Sony Cybershot DSC-N1 finally, case, 2GB pro duo card, spare battery. Love it as I only want it to record memories, not get into pro photography. Taking it to V tomorrow so will post any decent results I may get.

    Pentax *IST D
    Pentax 35 - 80
    Pentax 75 - 200
    Pentax 50

Nikon F103 - Various lenses including teleconverter and macro stuff - The only chemical camera I have now and reserved for when people want slides or negs.

Fuji finepix 2200 - a great camera for all sorts of photography, including holiday snaps and pics for websites.

Used to have a darkroom for over twenty years but got rid of the enlarger and stuff last year after I got the *IST

I seen an *IST the other day in the local Camera Exchange mate. looks a nice piece of kit.. what's it like re: user friendly and lens interchangeability? I know the canon D's can take a wide range of older lenses, what the *IST like?

Thankfully not everyone's outlook on photography is as simplistic as yours.

At the end of the day, I want to take damn good quality photos varying in condition and subject matter. If I wanted to take simple snaps, I'd buy a Kodak Easyshare One.

The *IST is compatible with all the old Pentax K mounts, so you can use it with your old lenses. I have to admit that as an owner of many Pentax lenses that was one of the reasons I opted for the *IST. The screen is clear and bright and generally it's easy to use, with lots of pre-programmed options.
