    Photos More macro

Not much happening at the moment so I thought I'd bore you all with a few more random macro shots I had sitting on my drive.

All taken handheld with a Sigma 105mm and off camera flash with sto-fen diffuser fitted, except for number one which was tripod mounted and used extension tubes and a 4x loupe stuck on the front of the lens.

    f8 1/180th sec @ ISO400

    f16 1/200th sec @ ISO100

Finally, the same subject and equipment as the first shot but with a 2x teleconverter added for around 8:1 magnification. Image quality starts to suffer a bit though with all the extra glass and it's a real bugger to not only focus but find the thing in the first place.

    Excellent photos m8ee.

Are you are professional photographer Slarti?

And how much is your equipment costing you?

And can you accidentally leave it all in a van with a door unlocked, totally by accident, somewhere near me, accidentally left parked by accident if you can...

Absolutely stunning. First shot is easily my favorite out the bunch, im amazed you even get them to sit still and dont make them fly off when you start poking your lenses towards them lol really like that 3rd shot aswell.

    No, just a keen amateur.

Not sure how much all my equipment cost in total as I've put it together over a number of years. Most of it's in the camera gear thread, although hardly any of my lenses are current models.

The subject in the first shot I found dead on the floor, which gave me plenty of time to get things set up.

I'm starting to feel guilty now for getting him into this "cheap" hobby.

The Sigma will fit, you just need to order one with a Canon mount. The cheapest I've seen them in this country is around £280.

A reversed lens is a good way to achieve a magnification boost. Try reversing your existing 18-55mm onto the front of your macro lens. You can buy a reversing ring to hold it in place or do what I do with my loupe and use a couple of elastic bands.

Your macro shot never fail to impress me Slarti. Cracking work, liking the water droplet ones the best i think.

Stunning pics mate, no idea how i missed this thread the 1st time around, but truly amazing, i like how you actually used a dead bug for the shot though, that's actually one really good tip
