Anyone flashed the hacked firmare on their original xbox, and got it working?

I wasn't aware of any firmware hacks for the original xbox...? do you mean the softmod or have you posted in the wrong section and mean the xbox 360...?

in either case, yes. It works.

there is one for the old xbox, but its pretty pointless as games need to by ripped 1:1, the same as they do for the 360. It was only done to prove it could be done.

Yeah you`d be much better off using a softmod mate - far too much messing about using the dvd firmware hack, and you have to make the games in a specific way, you can`t just download the isos and play.

For the softmod I`d recommend NDure 3.0 - you create a setup for the xbox you want to flash, connect the drive to the PC and follow the instructions - takes about 15 mins tops and works perfectly

To be honest i got a spare samsung drive and was playing last nite.......flashed it ok, but cant be arsed to try to rip some games now lol.....
