cheers for that TAR, tried on my dads pc... connected everything up, set the sata port as non-raid in bios, and tried, first time it said "no device detected" so i tried again, turning the xbox on then the pc, and the pc just freezes on the "press del to enter setup" screen. Only way i can try this is to boot up from floppy, type the mtkflash spiel then plug the sata cable in the back of the xbox drive, still says no device detected. this is driving me mental!! please help!

i take it its a sammy drive mate? i have the ali card and it worked fine for me but i had to do it in this order from floppy.
    pc off, floppy in.
    power on 360,
    pc on , boot floppy
connect the sata cable only when u get to the command prompt
then type the mtkflash r/ m etc

hope this works, tho many people had trouble with ali, but ive done a few sammys no probs.
cant get hitachi 2 work tho, just freezes xp everytime

Make sure that you have got the x360 drive plugged into the 1st port on your sata card, if ports are labelled 0 and 1 plug it in 0, if ports labelled 1 and 2 plug into 1.

power on pc and boot up floppy disk
    type mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin
now switch on 360 and straight away
press Enter on your pc keyboard

Also make sure that you don't have any other devices still connected to the IDE channels, because if they have a mediatek chipset mtkflash will flash these as well as your x360

Depends if you have a socket A chip lying about but the Asrock K7VT4A Pro is £23 and pee easy flashing using the onboard sata.

Seen you are in M/c Aria over in Longsight have them as have Scan up in Bolton.

I had this same problem (no drive detected) but got it to work by connecting the sata cable to the first port.

I am attempting to flash with xtreme20.

Now I am trying to boot the pc normally but it just hangs on the bit where Windows loads (I have the sata cable plugged in and the 360 is on).

    I don't think I have a Nvidia mo/bo.

    Help!

well i finally managed to get the pc to detect the xbox drive, using another pc. Thing is no games work now on the drive
I backed the orig.bin, saved it to desktop. i then booted into windows, ran kdx1.5 and opened the orig firmware, i then opened the xtreme.bin firmware and pressed save (i didnt copy the code into the xtreme.bin) flashed the drive with the modified.bin and obviosuly it doesnt play any games cos i didnt copy the key into xtreme.bin. tried again, copied the key from orig.bin and pasted it into xtreme.bin, renamed it modified. flashed it, tried xbox, doesnt play any games. Have i buggered this up for good?

You have to apply the xtreme_proper.ppf patch to the xtreme firmware before you can use the xtreme firmware with kdx 1.5

Yeah, u need the xtreme_proper firmware. Also i would manually edit ur key into the xtreme_proper firmware, just to make sure its done correctly..

Got it working, sharky489 sent me the patched bin file and i flashed the drive again. thanks to everyone who has helped out :thumbup

Original games now work, but i tried fight night round 3 PAL which is a "backup" and it said that it was the wrong region. i'm guessing that it detected the disk as a backup and it would run if it wasnt incompatible. which type of games will play?
