    Default Are you with NTHELL? - Look in, save some £££

    hi guys

    most have heard by now that $ky have announed their Broadband deal, 16mb for £10, so today we caledl NTHELL who currently charge us £34,99 for 10mb to cancel as its a rip off

    anyway cut a long story short we called their retentions line: 0800 052 9403 and told them im moving to sky as they are cheaper so they offered us 10mb internet for £15 per month for 1 year, uncapped and not tied down in a contract, that will do me

    anyway, just thought id point out to you guys, call your isp and kick off, tell them you wanna leave cos of $ky's good offer and they should give you a decent price to stay

    some extra info that may help:

    because other companies are offering free wireless modems nthell won't give you a modem/router but if you buy your own-send them the receipt and they'll credit your account.

    also heres the latest nthell broadband price list they're not telling peeps about unless you threaten to cancel

    1mb=9.99
    4mb-14.99
    10mb=17.99

    also they will match all 24/7 call plans for 6 months then allow you to review and upgrade/downgrade eyt every six months.

    Am on the phone to N T L right now.............bastard woman cut me off after I said about the Sky deal!!!!!!

    EDIT: Trying again, am being put through to sales ffs, they are now putting me through to cancelations.....seems not lol, had to go through the options again! FFS been cut off again!!!

    EDIT 2: 3rd time lucky I hope, trying again......they are supposedly having problems and can't put people through to the cancellations dept, the bloke said he'd ring me back when he is able to get through himself, I can't see anyone ringing me back at all. I'll try again later.

    EDIT 3: Fuck me the bloke really did ring back within a few minutes!!! I was flabbergasted lol
    Still got to try and get the deal done yet though.......jeez the cancellations dept is one hell of a busy dept, been on hold for exactly 5 mins so far.

    EDIT 4: 15 mins after being on hold I finally get it sorted, i didn't get 10 meg for £15 a month though, only managed £17.50 for 3 months because the bloke said that in September 10 meg will be the slowest speed N T L will be doing and that the cost will be dropping to just £9.99 per month!!! I asked what other speeds there will be available but he wasn't sure, although the 100mb thing they've been trialing should be available.

    The bloke I spoke to was VERY helpful, even gave me the direct number and his ext number so if the September thing doesn't happen all I have to do is get in contact with him again and he'll extend the offer for me until the new speeds package is introduced

    It's just a shame that none of the Newshosting ports are giving me full dl speed, port 8000 got up to 1051 KB/s but it keeps going up and down, it's mainly hanging around the 500 KB/s area :O(

    +K to ya Biggy for saving me some money.

    Sorry, should have read 10mb.

    Also a quick question. I have just been informed by their technical department, after noticing that I was getting no higher than 4mb that thtas the limit when the modem is connected via USB.

    He said that I should use the Ethernet cable, fair enough.

    1. Please excuse my stupidity

    2. I have lost the Ethernet cable that came supplied with the modem 12 months ago (the bluey/turquoise one) so any idea where I can pick one up from.

    3. How would I connect the modem to the PC as I will obviously have to disconnect the USB cable.

    Just as an addition to my above post, I presume that I will need an ethernet card in my PC which as far as I'm aware I do not have.

    SO I was wondering if one of these would work, a USB adaptor

    Most computer shops should be able to sort you out with a length of ethernet cable. There's also ebay, though if you're not entirely sure what you're after I'd say check out any small computer shops you have nearby first.

    It'd just be a case of plugging the other end of the cable into the computer. Most motherboards produced in the past couple of years have come with a built in network port, so have a shufty in the manual. Failing that, ask at the computer shop how much it'd cost to have a network card installed, unless this is something you can manage yourself.

    I'd personally say stay away from any sort of USB/Ethernet adapter, as I've had problems with them in the past. But your millage may vary.

    Just did this for telewest worked well .... 35 quid a month is way too much. They were very friendly when I 'threatened' to cancel and almost instantly offered me the half price service without me making too much of a fuss.

    I called them nearly 3 months ago to cancel. They gave me double my broadband speed (1mb to 2mb) phone line rental & free calls all for £12.50 a month. Not bad at all, but will be getting back in touch with them soon. That 10mb speed sounds great
    Thanks for the heads up biggy

    Bastards would only give me the 10Mbit @ £17.99...... mind you, they have been giving it to me at that price since March along with Talk 24 Unlimited @ £11.50.

    Nice post Biggy...K+ to you :thumbup

    you reckon there's anything I can do with the 1mb?
    I could say that I am cancelling because I want to upgrade to 10mb but sky is offering it cheaper...? Also, what is this sky offer?
