Question Universal remote - worth it?

I've been toying with the idea of getting one of these for a while, but always assumed they were more trouble than they're worth.

So I have four devices, and I wonder if it's possible to get a remote that will operate them all:

    VM Tivo
XBox One (for bluray, youtube and such, not games)
    Now TV
    TV

All pretty standard devices. So my question is, do these remotes work EASILY and do they actually simplify things?

    Thanks.

mine controls TV, AVR amp, sky hd , vu+ Duo2 ad all the innputs and command so its preset

turn tv on, hdmi 1, turn sky on then use remote as sky remote, depending n which device is select in inputs a series of commands customised to how i want them

I've had a Logitech for about 5 years now and couldn't honestly tell you where the original remotes are. We have the surround sound amp, Virgin box, dvd recorder and PS in the cupboard under the stairs and it all works perfectly.
Easy setup with web interface as well.
Did have a few issues on initial setup but support had it sorted really quickly!
Rallying .... Because Football, Cricket and Golf only requires one ball.

Does the kameleon exist anymore (yes)? I used to have one (second hand) and you downloaded the individual skins for the different devices. It worked well, but due to having to manage what skin your on, I always ended up having three different remotes on teh go at any one time. Infact, since looking this up, such things have come a long way. I gave up but might revisit.

I've had a hard time finding one that will do everything, especially the receiver.

I got offered a Harmony One in the BST for £40 but declined. The Touch can be had for £62.50 on ebay.
