Photos My first panorama (thanks Keith)

Was out for a walk early this evenin' and happened upon a lovely location for a panorama. Unfortuantley I had about 20MB left on my memory card for images (silly me not checking first ) so had to take the source images as JPG which is a real shame as could have done with adjusting the exposure a bit on each shot to level them out a bit.

Anyway, my first attempt at a panorama shot using what i believe was called autopanorama or something that my mate had installed.

I can just about make out my house too on one of the hills

nice picture, your lucky to have such a nice view, everywhere is scared by pylons here.

One thing, you may get better results with panorama factory. ive not used the one u mentioned, but ive never had the banding you picture suffers from.

It's a fantastic shot, but the overlaps do spoil it a bit.

Did you use the same exposure settings for each shot ?

Yeah the banding thing is a big problem, i think it's because i had to stick the camera on pointy clicky mode to get it into JPG only mode as i didnt have enough room to store raw's so i think the camera reverts to an auto exposure setting then so no 2 images were the same I'll give it another one with a freshly formated CF card later in the week i think.

I'll have a look at that panorama factory though {{909}}, i've not got any panorama software installed here, but i've got an urge to take a panoramic image at night from the same location to get a load of stars in so i'll see if i can get a trial of that and see if it does a better job than the one my mate used.

I prefer Autopano Pro over Panorama Factory. I found it gave better results, even with the totally automated option.

i have just grabbed autopan pro slarti and your right, it is rather good, i like how you can just direct it to a folder and it searches for viable panoramas, its stitched some images together that i didnt even intend to use as a panorama and has gone is all directions with its stitching, not just in the traditional wide pan view.

You should make a post about it in the software section, i was gonna but i think i should play about with it a little first. need to get rid of those pesky watermarks too, but that shouldnt be a problem

I did post about it a while ago in the software section, when the competition had a landscape theme. I always recommend it now when people ask about panorama software. It's certainly the best I've used so far, not that I do that many.
