    Default Another Insurance Question.

With speaking to my insurance about a recent incident.

They have been asking my to confirm my DOB which I did and they said thanks etc etc.

Only today when I speak he says my DOB is wrong on there system and the last to number are the wrong way rounding, indicating im a lot older than I am.

I have checked my insurance which indeed does have it incorrect on my insurance.

Now I dont know if this was a typo at the time of taking the policy, or its there mistake.

Would they have the right to cancel the insurance at its current stat ( 6 months into the policy ) and say it was void, hence making me void at the time of the incident, or are they likley just to charge me extra for the correct premiem ?

Or maybe they will forget about it and do nothing and come may ill get a years NCB and one years cheap insurance for entering the wrong DOB ? ( as it was awfully cheap )

They could cancel it with it being a claim and with you not supplying the correct information.

When you had your insurance documents it would have said clearly that you had to "double check everything on the documents to ensure their are no mistakes otherwise it may invalidate your insurance"

Considering you now have a claim in the process I would be very suprised if they didn't void the insurance. Also with the police involved I would cross my fingers that they don't get wind of it!

did you fill out the details on the internet etc or give them to the insurance company over the phone?

It doesn't matter... as stated in my previous post, it is your responsibility to check that all the details are correct on your documents.

Trying to establish who made the orginal mistake is not going to get you anywhere.

DG is correct, it is the responsibility of the policyholder to check that ALL details are correct on the policy.

Failure to notify the insurance company of any errors can result in the policy being withdrawn at any time.
