Just been to my local Game store and asked about pre-orders. They aren't taking them yet, only taking names of people interested. I was first on the list! (which suprised me). The bloke said they expect to take deposits in mid Oct. He also said that they expect to be able to fulfil all pre-orders - not hard if i'm the only one on the list

I think you'd be better off pre-ordering online.

Wont be as much demand as the 360 so you should be OK getting one plus you'll get discounted games online.

As a backup stick a deposit down in a shop anyway, either way you'll get one and if you get two someone will take one off your hands.

i doubt we will see the 360 fiasco again, numbers should be much higher for the wii, im still going to preorder from multiple places tho, one online, one in the high street

Just got a call from my local Game - they are taking deposits from today onwards to guarantee me one on launch day. I'm 7th on the list, watch them get 6 in on the day, lol.

Apparently you get a 'serial number' on the receipt aswell - what's all that about then?

Surely not the SN for the Wii itself? Just never heard of this before..

I think its to stop you buying 5 and putting them on Ebay - they have been talking about this after the 360 probelms - looks like there going ahead with it.

Personally I'm all for it - should stop the bastards who make any shortage worst and make money for nothing.

Thanks for the tip crayal, got the wife to go an put a deposit down even though our game store hasn't started phoning yet.

I'm now number 5 at our game's wii pre-order list.

Give your local store a shout - they may take a deposit now and you can nip in there and be number 1 on the list

Unfortunately, when I asked about a deposit they said they'll phone around all the people that have registered their interest when they are taking them and not to worry as I won't lose my place on the list. I should be fine. I'll phone them in a sec to make sure I'm not number 100 or something.

Edit - lol useless shits. Just gave them a bell and found I'm number 12 on the list. Asked if they were taking a deposit yet and said they weren't. They will call people in the order they registered so I will be the 12th person they call.
Asked if I wouldn't be able to go to the shop to put a desposit down for a few days after the call, would I lose my 12th place, the arse couldn't answer me.
Sounds like if I don't go in straight after the phone call then I'll lose my 12th position.
Suppose it could work in my favour if I get in before the other 11.

I am 007 at game station that where taking preorders a week ago. Had to read the disclaimer that they are filling orders in date and time ordered from the central wharehouse. So I might be number 1337 in the country order

lol 1337 thats mad so you could be 1 in store and 3 million in real terms thats nice of em. i think there will be loads of stock because nintendo have accually made a machine that aint gonna kill em to mass produce unlike ms and sony.

I did ask in-store if this guaranteed me one on launch day and they couldn't answer me. They just said it guarantees me a Wii.

I said seeing as how I am giving them �180 I should bloody well think so. TBH I'm not too arsed if it is the next day or a couple of days later*
