Ive got the KDL40V2000, It has a d-plug for pc connection which I have got set up to watch movies on. Exellent picture, text etc is perfectly readable (unlike previous crt tv). Not sure about the laptop you have (or any laptop for that matter). While watching movies I have it set up as dual view which means I can watch a movie and still use the computer for other stuff at the same time.
As for the TV I can't recomend it enough. I'm well happy with ours.

One thing I would say m8 is dont skimp with the price on the VGA cable, ive got a samsung LCD and when I first set it up to take VGA i used a cheap lead from ebay at a tenner and the signal was that bad I thoguht maybe i should take the tv back! then i used a decent (monster i think) VGA cable and the picture is superb.

Sonys are bloody good at PC out so you should enjoy
