hi is there anyway to trace my computer as i have just been burgled.
is there anyway to trace it when they come online with with it maybe through the ethernet or usb mac address?

its a brand new dell system 9150 with my 19" monitor

do you even no the mac address's of the system mate

plus i dont think there is your best off ringing up insurance company and seeing what they can do for you

unfortunately, there is now way for you to trace your machine.

Insurane is going to be your best bet.

Im sure I read somewhere that Dell had installed a program which runs everytime the PC is connected to the internet and since it sits in the Bios it cant be disabled.

However I think you need to do a bit of setting up for it to work....stable door and all that. However if the insurance pays out and you get another Dell check out wether its on there

Dells version is called Computrace and costs about �30/year. I'm not sure if it works on desktops though.

There are several competing services for laptops that do what your looking for... Unfortunately you have to be subscribed, with their software on the PC before the theft occurs....

Put an Advt in "Loot" or similar local mags seeking that identical model to buy. If you get a phone call, don't say you've had one stolen but that you admire the model etc. Beware guys who offer to meet in carparks etc. Memorise the identifiable features i.e. Ser/No + any marks etc so you will recognise them if you succeed. If it's yours, pay a deposit and offer to be back with the balance later and go straight to the Cops.

I doubt they'll be advertising it, probs be sold down a pub. Good luck getting it though and I'm sorry to hear it was stolen. What's the best software to get for tracking if it gets stolen?
