    Default Anyone know how to play .MKV files on 360 (MCE) ??

    i grabbed a tv show that is a mkv file, the filename is: 720p.AC3.5.1.HDTV.X264-DIMENSION

    when i load up MCE and 360, it doesnt show the mkv file on screen, anyone know how im able to play this file on my 360?

    do i need a codec?

    VLC will play them on your pc:
    http://www.videolan.org/

    Don't know if you can then stream to your 360.

    Try converting the file to an avi or whatever you want. There should be a converter available.

    The .MKV is only the storage container for the .TS Stream and AC3 audio.

    I tried to convert one once it was speed in HD with DTS audio but i waited over 4 hours and still it was'nt finished and thats on a 4400X2 with 1 gig ram.

    It could also have been a conflict of codecs but did not have patience to find out
