Taking hold of a Domain name

A couple of years ago I lost my domain name. It had been carefully built and received a lot of traffic. A company approached and paid us to advertise with them, in effect they become domain owners.

The agreement ended and someone forgot to reregister the domain. Someone else then bought it up , they had bad feeling towards us, and it's laid pretty much dormant ever since. It even had our old site layout on there. We got hacked at the same time.

Internet sabotage. lol

Anyway... My question is.. Is there any way to get it back when it expires? Or do I just have to hope they don't renew it. And if they don't renew it, how do I go about getting it back?

Recently I tried to make an offer to buy it, but have heard nothing.

It is a good domain and I want it back.

was it actually registered by the new people deliberatley or are they just 'drop catches' ?

tbh you've got very little chance of getting it back really unless you can prove something on a trade mark basis.

either way it'll come back to the fact that you let it expire and then didnt renew it in the "remeption" period after that.
