    Default New Forum Intro

WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF FANEDITS

A fan edit is a version of a film modified by a viewer, removing the pieces to which the viewer objects and possibly including additional material, such as deleted scenes or alternative subtitles, as well. The trend started with Mike J. Nichols remaking Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, into a movie known as The Phantom Edit. An individual known by the pseudonym "MagnoliaFan" also produced fan edits of Star Wars films called Star Wars: Balance of the Force and its sequel Star Wars: The Clone War. Today, there are dozens of edits of the Star Wars movies, many of which aim to preserve the pre-Special Edition original trilogy or correct perceived story flaws.

Fan Edits are absolutley f-ing brilliant. Personals faves are Pulp Fiction in cronological order, Pearl Harbour with all the love story crap cut out, Kill Bill as one movie, Star Wars Ep1 with all the Jar Jar binks crap taken out and a TON of the plot and story changed - it actually makes it a great movie. If you have never seen a Fan Edit then you are in for a treat, the difficulty is getting hold of them. Sometimes they are on Torrent, Rapidshare or Newsgroup. Some you just can't find and have to do some trading.

The mission here is to show you as many fan edits as I can possibly find and to for us all to post our own reviews and discovered downloads.

I hope you enjoy this section - its a big hobby of mine.

I've never seen a fan edit, but it seems I'm missing out.

I like the idea of the fan edits, perhaps not Star Wars, but Pulp fuction in order or Momento in reverse might be a interesting.
    I'm new to this

The Star Wars fan edits are actually excellent - a much much better trilogy than the official releases - I will get them posted asap.

I have seen a couple, one being the Kill Bill one. They are great but depend on the talent of the fan. Look forward to more Rap.

    Yeah.

Think when you watch a film, editing is one of the misdemeanors you can sure the RIAA will only be too happy to put a 10-person strong team to work on lol.

it really is a ton of fun - especially if you are a fan of a particular movie - I gurantee a lot of the faults of the original you will find fixed - its fascinating stuff

I am a total fan of fanedits for many years. My first self created fanedits was a VHS version of KIRKLESS GENERATIONS (star trek generations without James T. Kirk). Of course it was rather terrible, but it was almost 15 years ago. When DVDs became available and it was so easy to edit them, I foudn some peopel to share this hobby with and together we created a first DVD version, which was already kind of impressive (about 3 years ago). The final and completed version was created last year and I consider it almost perfect. It is a complete TNG movie (though rather short) and you don't miss Kirk a single second. Since then a lot happened. I found originaltrilogy.com, where other people posted there efforts in fanediting. And of course I kept on creating fanedits and have now finished 22 of them. And I wanted more than just a Star Wars forum to post my fanedits, so I created my own website, which is pretty successful and a true home for each faneditor and fanedit fan.
And it's awesome to discover this forum here and see that more of you are interested in this nice subculture art, which provides film fans with versions of movies they would have never thought about.
The other day I was watching "RUNNING SCARED" and one of the guys there complained that he could not watch the very censored version of a John Wayne film anymore. It completely depressed him and I just thought... "why didn't you just make it yourself?"
