Sometimes i like nasty close ups,
Sometimes I like them air brushed,
Sometimes it's a spread brown eye,
Sometimes it's girl on girl.
Sometimes a steamy letter will do it.
And not often, but sometimes I like the idea of a chick
with a horse.
How much data is there?
Personally I'd just make a couple of DVD backups and store them seperately.
I agree with Mule, I'm paranoid over backups (many years of loosing data in the good old days does that to you!) I keep a copy of data on my hdd, external hdd, a DVD copy (never used except if my hdd copies go bad) and another one offsite - parents or friends will do nice things like that- oooh and I make sure this is sealed so they cant open it and get phat orrible finger prints over it!

Copy to DVD, copy to HD, upload to webspace.
If your really worried store backups at a bank, may cost you but it's prb the safest option.

yup dvd's everytime also upload if you have space somewhere. hd's are ok for larger backups but i just lost a shit load of data which i assumed was 'safe' on a spare hd.

Things of that importance, id burn at least x5 and leave them with responsible family members, Resorting to web space, google seems a safe bet for a few years, id split them into rar and up them into gmail accounts.
I think cd-r's are meant to be good for 100 years, so dvd should be similar. One thing to watch out for, I've messed up loads of cdr's by getting them wet. I've noticed fizzy drinks, contact lens soultion, and weird unexplained wet area on desk all had the ability to irrepairably damage the reflective layer.
im not sure on the reliability of DVDrs, i read somewhere that 10 years is average on very good media, but verbatim clain a 100 guarentee on some of their disks, what id do is make a few dvdr back ups, stick a date on em and make a note of re copying them every few years
Burn your DVD/CDs at the slowest possible speed.
I'm not sure why this makes a difference to some burneres/players, but, for the sake of a few minutes, it's worth doing.

ok this should guarantee you never lose that data, get yourself a program that will make an image of whatever file you want to keep, make an image then use winrar to split it into reasonably sized pieces, then get quickpar9.1 and create repair files at about 5% or 10% if your really paranoid, burn the seperate rars to as many discs as required, and store them in a taped up case only removing them if needed, this way 5 rar files can be missing or many more damaged and you can still repair them with quickpar. cya.
