I have an nforce 4 mobo and the MS28 is a nogo (tried the VCC trick also).
I invested in a via card same as pizza-man just for doing these which works a charm with no soldering required.

Thanks for all the replys people have taken on board and have ordered via card from link above thanks for that.

Just one more thing is confusing me when i install and am ready to flash the sammy i read that you disconnect all your drives except for one and make sure it has MTK chipset on it excludes Pioneer drives i have attached the said info so someone can telll me if this is right.

    Code:
Turn off the Xbox 360 and PC.
Connect the SATA cable from the MS28 drive to the Internal port on the VIA Sata card.
Connect a PC CD or DVD drive on the VIA Sata card IDE channel (must use MTK chipset - most do - NOT Pioneer tho - all Liteon work)
Power up the Samsung 360 DVD (Via Connectivity kit powered by seperate molex PSU or using the Xbox 360 power) - count to 10
Turn on the PC and boot from floppy.
Type this command: mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin and hit enter
It should display your ports. Do NOT select anything, just leave it at the "menu"
Turn off the power to the Samsung 360 DVD
Now, select port 1 , even though the Samsung 360 DVD power is now off.
It will "pause" when you select that port
I counted to 12-15, then turned on the power to the Samsung 360 DVD
    It will start reading automatically.

Once youve read the FW we suggest using Xtreme v3.3 (simply put the orig.bin in the same dir as Xtreme v3.3 and run Make X33.bin. Then put the newly created X33.bin onto your floppy)

Follow the same procedure above for flashing except the command line is

    mtkflash r /m x33.bin

    DONE - Easy

    Thanks again Guy's

I have a pioneer drive and using the pci sata card / via mtkflash I had to have the IDE in and enabled before mtkflash could see the 2 drives . 1 being the pioneer and 2 being the pci sata card. I was stumped for a day trying different combos till someone on df posted try the ide and it worked

NB - I never attached the pioneer ide to the pci sata, I had it directly attached to the mobo.
