[QUOTE=Waka;2101110]Thanks everyone...I've manged to get my v2.5 upto 2.71...down to hacked 1.5 and upto 2.71SE B...all without GTA!
Can't seem to get up to 2.71 B2 though. Memory card led flashes and then the psp switches off :-(

Make sure these folders exist on your memory card:
    /ISO
    /PSP/GAME150
    /PSP/GAME

Aaaah - that was it - I was missing the /ISO folder! (I had the others) I didn't realise the update process needed that folder too, but now I'm up to 2.71 SE B3

No doubt I'll be back with daft questions on how to run isos when my 2GB card turns up

    Thanks again,
    W.

Yes GTA VCS runs under devhook & 2.71 SE-b3....

if you are useing devhook u have to set the UMD SFO version to "2xx to 2.00"
this also work for most 2.81 games atm...

2.71SE-B GTA VCS umd loads ok....

    @SS30

I also find that some of the icons still come up as corrupt
rename the folders prefixing with the following "%__SCE__" & "__SCE__" (with out the ") works with mose HB

    myfolder% would be %__SCE__myfolder
    myfolder would be __SCE__myfolder

Bugger, I was hoping it would be a bit more straightforward
I've got 2.71SEB3 and a couple of isos (nascar07 and gta:vc) - do they need to be named correctly to make them run?

I think I've got bogged down as to whether I need devhook or not!

I've tried putting each iso in the /ISO folder or in the /GAME folder and then looking under the Game, Memory Stick option and it always says 'There are no games.' This is with and without the demo disk that came with the value pack. I've also enabled 'Use NO_UMD' in the recovery moode config.

I've put on devhook 0.47 (and 0.46), but they both just seem to re-boot the psp when I select either of them.

As I'm a bit of a newb at this, I expect (hope!) I've missed out something really basic.

    Anyone any ideas?

    Ta,
    W.

its pretty simple, well it should be.

in the mem stick, put your isos in the ISO folder.
    but youve already tried that.

iso can be anything .iso. xxx.iso etc.

its just a case of putting the isos there and going to the game menu and the games show up. the games show up without a disc inserted so that bit doesnt matter, but with them not showing up at all is a bit weird.

if you goto the system menu does it say the software version is 2.71 se

    Hi thanks for the reply.
System software is 2.71 SE-B'' which hopefully is B3.
So isos should just run from the /ISO folder? And I don't need devhook?

    Thanks again,
    W.

no need for devhook for nascar, unsure about gta (don't play it myself)

assuming they are working iso's just dump them in the ms:/iso folder

if you're unsure, grab umdgen and open up the iso, you shouild see the file structure and game files.
Basically there is no reason for it not to work if you have the custom firmware installed.

Thanks for the reply too bugnote.
I can open the PSP iso using Magic ISO Maker.
In the top level directory is a folder called PSP_GAME and a file called UMD_DATA.BIN - does that sound about right?

Maybe I just need to try and reinstall everything, including the firmware :-(

    sounds perfect.

if you were trying devhook make sure you emulate the 2.71 flash firmware as unless you have the firmware dumps on the ms then it will just reboot.

the entire dh folder should be around 100kb.

just in case you're still looking at this thread (or anyone else looking at moving to the SE firmawares) there is a newer version out, SE-C, check out maxconsole for the files required.

It's an easy upgrade from any of the previous custom firmwares, did it last night in a few mins no problems
