    oh where to start!
I have been to Singapore 4 or 5 times now, and always have a great time.
The food is excellent, and cheap as!
Try the Lau Pa Sat Food Centre,it's near to Cecil Street in the business / banking area.
They do a wide selection of food at great prices.

There are loads of 'Food Centres' in Singapore, and they are much cheaper than a traditional resturant.

Booze is pretty expensive compared to food and even more so if you end up in a 'Hostest' bar. You pay for your drink and your new friends!

The Swissotel is worth a look though. It's the tallest building in Singapore and has a cracking bar at the top. Don't be put off by all the Ferrari's etc parked outside. It'll only set you back about £10+ a drink ! But it is worth it for the view, and it's crammed with ladies.

Electrical goods in Singapore are v. cheap, and there are some cracking shopping centres for all things electrical.

If you want hand made suits then Singapore is the place. I always get one or two made up when over and it usually takes the 3-4 days. Don't goto one of these 24 hours jobs though,as thats about as long as the suit you get will last for.
I think I paid £300 for 2 Suits with 2 sets of trousers each last May,so really not bad.

Then there is Geyland which is whore central, never been myself honest!

On the whole the Singaporeans are a friendly lot if not a bit mad!

Let me know if you want more info etc.

Where will you be staying? I have friends who live there so maybe able to recommend some good places to go etc.

    Sentosa is very nice!
But don't bother with a car mate. Cars are very expensive in Singapore, but Taxi's are so cheap.
Singapore is so small you really don't need a car, there bus, tube and taxi service is excellent.
I'll get some names of the electrical stores for you mate.

If you like gadgets you need to head for Sim Lim Square, tons of electronics stores all under one roof. I was there in July picked up a PSP for 240 SD (approx £85).
If you have the tiome and inclination you could always spend a few days in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Its only a 5 hr coach trip from down town Singapore and there is so much more to do and see in KL. I did the trip using the very comfortable Transtar coach service (massaging leather chairs with personal LCD monitors AND ONLY £20 Each way) http://www.transtar.com.sg/firstclass.php

Hope you have a great time, but just remember that its hot and humid all year around so pack accordingly.

i liked 'suntec city' for lekky goods.
we stopped in the goldenlandmark hotel, and the tour guide at reception arranged for a free taxi to take us to a independant electrical store, but they turned out to be robbing bastards. (thought knievel did not know how to convert currency in his head)
check out the bird park if you have kids, they will love the shows..
Sometimes i like nasty close ups,
Sometimes I like them air brushed,
Sometimes it's a spread brown eye,
    Sometimes it's girl on girl.
Sometimes a steamy letter will do it.
And not often, but sometimes I like the idea of a chick
    with a horse.

is there really that much in KL?, i was there a few days and didnt really feel there was alot there, but i probably missed eveything, as usual.
For £20 you could probably fly to KL too, it cost me less to fly from penang to KL if you book a week or so in advance.

The problem is that there is no direct "budget" flights from KL to Singapore, Malaysian Airlines and Singapore Air are your only options and the last time I looked it was around £130 RTN. However you can take an Air Asia flight from KLIA to Johor Bahru and then take a bus for the 1 hour or so journey into Singpaore. But to be honest, for the amount of faffing around, airport transfers, waiting time etc... you might as well just take the 5hr luxury, airconditioned coach with massaging leather chairs, personal movie/video game console

Singapore is good for a few days. don't bother with a car - taxi and underground system are all you need. Check out little india, and little middle-east, about half a day each.

Be prepared for short bursts of torrential rain. Humidity can be high too, drink lots.

Singapore is v dense, and most life goes on inside the malls/towers.

Check out the zoo - they do a great night tour.

electrical stuff is cheap, but malaysia/KL is cheaper still. Take the coach as advised. KL is a great city - if you want to live it up in style, check into the Meridien Hotel. £50/night for two people, incl breakfast and it is 4-5*.

Watch out for the law in both places - very strict and take no nonsense.

Get in a taxi and ask the driver to take you to 4 Floors (short for 4 floors of whores) a most interesting place, Boat Quay is okay, a bit Ex-Pat, but some interesting bars, Clark Quay is similer. If you're in Singapore, you have to go to Raffles hotel and have a Singapore Sling (they taste like crap, but it has to be done.

The group of bars opposite Raffles, called Chijmes (the bar Insomnia is quite fun, they have a live band most nights) is fun and Mohammed Sultan is quite lively (but a bit pricey) also they have a Coyote Ugly there if that's your thing.

Beer in Singapore isn't cheap, its around £3 a bottle, but the Pool tables are about 30p a game, so its all good

Get a taxi/bus to Orchard Road, it's a massive shopping district with everything from clothes to electrical goods, Lucky Plaza is pretty good too.

I was in Singapore last week and it is a great place.

When you get to the airport make sure you grab hold of a copy of the Changhi Express. There'll be stacks of them as you come through customs. This newspaper has listings of whats on in Singapore and the surrounding areas.

I didn't get thatt much time to look around while I was there as I was working but there is a lot going on in Little India at the moment as we come up to Eid and Deepvali.

Also, if you get a chance go for a pint at The Stanford (Swisshotel). The bar is on the 70th floor and you get a great view over the harbour however, once again, I think drinks were S$16 a pop.

Oh - and take you swimming trunks to the airport. There is an open air pool on the roof.

Someone mentioned buying a suit in Singapore. Can you recommend a place to go for a fitting while I am there next? I have 4 days there at the end of November.

    Cheers, Sal.

    You'll get that in Singapore.

Over the Christmas period is a big holiday time for the Singaporeans so expect things to be a little quieter through the Christmas week but you will find some things open.

Singapore has more malls than I've ever seen so you won't be disappointed with shopping.

Check out www.wikitravel.org for more on Singapore.

I'm sat in Changi Singapore airport at we speak and thought that as I have 5 minutes I'd recommend a tailor in Sing.

I went to Mohan's in the Far East Plaza on floor #2 (Scotts Road).

I don't know how good the price was but I paid S$700 for a suit and two shirts and it's a nice one.

Singapore is great this time of the year. Their Christmas decorations are wild, it is hot and it is lively as hell.

    Laters..

This week it was hot most of the time and mixed overcast and clear. The rainy season is in and it rained every other day for maybe 1/2 an hour in the afternoon. Take a little umbrella if you plan on getting out much. Saying that pretty much wherever you are you'll be a stones throw from a shopping centre so you'll always have somewhere to duck into.

Where you travelling and for how long?
