Default Best players to start their careers at your club

After the top 5 players, I thought it would be good to see what players started thier careers at a club (youth/U18's) but never played in the 1st team and left to another clubs i.e.

    Graeme Souness
    Des Walker
    Jamie Redknapp
    David Beckham

Two that spring to mind are David Platt and Peter Beardsley. Think they may have made 1 or 2 appearances though as sub, so guess they don't qualify . One for the future though is Paul McShane. I have a feeling we are going to regret letting him go.

    Steve McManaman
    Jamie Carragher

Both God and Macca were both massive bluenoses but they fucked them about so they joined the better side in the area - liverpool acadamy.

Yeah, his mother's welsh and his father's welsh/jamaican mixed race. It's a common misconception that he could have played for england and someone of his talent, professionalism and all round likeability I often feel a little sorry for him that he couldn't.

    Not that sorry though.

The people who manage the Spurs youth setup need shooting.

    Paul Gascoigne
    Chris Waddle

Neither of them just played in the youth set up (obviously) but did their real good stuff elsewhere.

According to Robbies autobiog, when he trained for Everton it just didnt feel right - his first time at anfield he felt the urge to touch "This is Anfield" and from that moment knew he was going to play for the reds.....very strange. Destiny.

Shaun Wright Phillips started off at Forest, but some bright spark (David Platt) i think, decided he was too small and released him. The rest is history.....

Always been something that disappointed me!!! But yes, not only are his parents Welsh he was born in Wales. Couldn't he have qualified for England under residency rules? Isn't it 5 years, or does that just apply to foreigners who don't hold a British passport, or would he have had to wait 5 years after he was a legal adult?
