Default First Famitsu PS3 game Reviews

    PS3 Launch Titles Reviewed
    Famitsu gets da scoops.
    by IGN Staff

US, October 31, 2006 - It's already November over in Japan, making the PS3 release a little over a week away. Anyone who keeps up with the Japanese videogame magazine scene knows what that means: first reviews appearing in Japan's biggest weekly game magazine, Famitsu.

Sure enough, this week's Famitsu has first review scores for almost the entire PS3 launch lineup. And by "almost the entire," we mean five games, because the PS3 is launching with a meager six titles in its home country.

Here's what Famitsu thought about everything except for Konami's Mahjong Fight Club game:

    Sega Golf Club: 7, 7, 7, 7
One reviewer said the game has good tempo, with little wait time. Another complained about the game not giving that next generation feel. The chick reviewer liked how the game is simple and extremely easy to play.

    Genji: 7,7,7,8
The four playable characters have unique characteristics, complimented one reviewer, while another was pleased with the amount of volume in the game. The controls are good, said one reviewer, but the lack of full camera controls made fighting difficult.

    Resistance: 9,8,8,8
All reviewers seemed pleased by the game's 40 player online battles.

Gundam: Target in Sight (aka Crossfire): 8,8,8,8
A couple of reviewers complained that the game is tougher than they'd been expecting. One made mention of all the things you can do in the game, from reforming your Mobile Suit to increasing weapon abilities. One reviewer liked the amount of freedom offered by the game.

    Ridge Racer 7: 9,9,9,9
The sound and drift mechanics have been refined even further on the PS3, said one reviewer. Net battles don't suffer from lag, pointed out one reviewer. Another reviewer made mention of the amount of volume in the game.

So there you have it, the first ever PlayStation 3 game reviews. IGN will share our own opinions on these games (plus that missing mahjong game ... take that, Famitsu) once the PS3 hits Japan on 11/11, so be sure and check back.

Good to see High grades for sony at launch, a first
Cant help thinking its slightly unfair, mentioning theres no lag in online RR7 for example, id expect not since noone else on the planet can play it online.
