"Detection Failed" on Sony Service Update

Hi

I have a k750i which i would like to update the firmware, i have the USB cable and the software downloaded and installed. I have both java and flash up to date too.

I follow the instructions til lthe detection section where ater around 40seconds i get "Detection Failed". I have retired this many time but keep getting the same message "Detection Failed".

Can anyone offer some assistance.

Do you have the USB cable drivers installed correctly, and is the battery fully charged.

Also, what software are you using m8 ??

usb cable drivers i think are installed correctly, battery was not full full but like 90%.

I'm using Sony Ericsson Update Service the most recent on the site UpdateService_Inst_2.6.4.9.exe.

I have never used this service m8, so not really sure what the problems may be.

Maybe worth cleaning the contacts at the bottom of the handset.

could you recommend another way, like using a different program?

The program works fine, I have upgraded my bothers Voda k800 with it.
When I intially hooked up both his 800 and my 750, it farted about for a while installing drivers. Lots of drivers. I just let it get what it wanted online from microsoft. I then exited the program, disconnected the phone and started all over again. They both connected properly, his had an available upgrade, mine has not to date.

Incidently, my k750 is on O2 and the current software seems to be R1CA021 with camera version 5.3

let us know how you get on mate - I need to upgrade the firmware on mine soon, as it is very buggy at the moment

yes will be the phone one of my sony d750(t mobile) never updated but my o2 k750 same phone updates fine..

yeah my mate just done his on my pc so it must be my phone, might have to go to one of those shops to do it
