updating FW

right my xbox started playing up a bit 2day so im gunn update my few

i curently have sammy 4.1 and am gunna but on 4.2 but my question is how do i unlock the drive with enable8000 does it need to be burnt on a dual layer or is a dvd 5 fine.

please somebody help my xbox wont load alot of my games

pop the disk in for 10 secs/eject then flash

yes dual layer is needed but create a .dvd file for it using bfg's pinned example as I couldn't get it to work unless I specified the layer break. Use a good quality disc like a verb. I have the Aone discs and they work great for me with games but wouldn't work as an 0800 disc, burned it on a verb and it worked straight away.

You can also do the 10 second ms28 trick that worked for me on my ms28 drive, I had same problem just had 4.1 on and thought i had to burn the 0800 disc but did a bit of reading and how i flashed the drive in the first place via the 10 second method worked again upgrading from 4.1 to 4.2.

Worth a try it worked for me.

ok peeps im in the same situation here...i had the very 1st firmware that was out and worked a treat and updated 2 xtreme 4.2a now games wont load ...so u all say i must burn (Enable0800.iso) to a dual layer disk and pop it back in drive ,then this unlockes the drive so i can put my older firmware back on and games will work again ...cheers guys

thanks 4 the reply ill try it again here and c wat happens also sometimes the orginals wont load now with this 4.2a will try this plug 360 drive 2 pc and get 2 dos screen ,type mtkflash w /m mine.bin put that enable0800 disk in wait 10-15 secs ,take disk out and hit enter with mine.bin thats on my floppy

rite have tried above method could be my dl disk will another soon,also have a sammy drive,also have connectivty kit,am also getting 0800 (master/slave a0) i think it is, when ive 2 hit enter on the port i wanna flash 1 or 2,think this is bc the drive is locked via this firmware guard
ps also the 0800 master thing comes up when i hit port 1 or 2

all i do is get to dos prompt
type in (example) mtkflash r /m /sata x42a.bin
press nothing after that
pop disk in let it read for 10 secs/eject
then press enter to select port and select port and away it goes

finally got it flashed but drive is making a click when i nisert a disk seems like i may need to tweak the drive as its not reading orginals as well thanks for the help pizzaaman ill try this n c if it works if not looks like i need a new drive
