    Question Santa Fraud

Does the Santa spoof represent a child's first encounter with deception ?
Just think about this........in most childrearing scenarios, there's a huge emphasis in the early formative years in regard to speaking truth and honesty.
Then the Santa sham story creeps in. The child is regaled with softly spoofy stories about Santa and all the associated pap that goes with it.
This pretence is kept up for a number of years and fools most kids for quite a while.
Then some older kid blows the cover on the spoof and the child comes running to a parent to check on what he/she has just heard. And what happens? The parent insists on maintaining the spoof for a further period of time !!! Then the kid finds out for sure and knows from that time onwards that these grownup types lie and spoof whenever they want and when adults eventually own up, they do it with a grin and make light of it.

Well, I can't recall ever believing in it. Still, my brother and I wrote letters to "Santa", we put them under the carpet in the hallway. They were very detailed with pics and shit, just so "Santa" understood how meaningful it was to get any particular item. Every morning we ran to the hallway to check if they were gone

Yeah, one year me and my sis found our pressies, my mum and dad were out and my gran and grandad were babysitting, both deaf as posts so didnt hear us. Mum and Dad came home, younger sis heard them arrive and snuck off back to bed leaving me to take the rap.... got the "Well those presents werent for you... bad boy..."

Next day... surprise surprise... got the "dont tell your sisters as it will ruin Christmas for them..."

So to be nice I waited until boxing day to tell them....

i dont think i ever believed either. My mum and dad were very much 'tell it how it is' and i respect them for it.

I did spoil my xmas one year tho by playing too much with a present I had found. Meant there was no big surprise on xmas day. I regret playing with that to this very day....
